The Photonics Group recruits engineers nationwide for companies that design and manufacture optical, electro-optic, and laser systems. Our major business clientele is military contractors who build high energy lasers. DPSS lasers, Directed energy laser systems, LIDAR, LADAR,s IR imaging Cameras and sensors, Night vision systems, laser range finders, targeting and fire control systems, and space based electro-optical systems. We also work with commercial optic and laser component manufacturers whose products are used to build these systems, and with companies that use the military technology for commercial purposes like laser bar code scanners, CCD cameras, or laser surgery.
A minor part of our business has been with companies building micro optic or fiber optic products. The common feature of all our clients is that they are designing and building cutting edge optics and electro-optic technology. Our client companies are located across the US, concentrated near the major optics centers of Rochester, Boston, Orlando, Tucson, and southern California, but also in a dozen or so other locations. The positions we work on range from design engineer to senior manager, all requiring a strong technical background in the optics and electro-optics systems industry.

D E S C R I P T I O N
Position: Senior MOCVD Epitaxy Engineer Location: Midwest Experience: 5+ years Education: BS
Summary: Position will be an integral part of the epitaxy team providing support and expertise toward the development of novel high-power laser products.
Responsibilities:
*Operation and maintenance of MOCVD reactor. *Epitaxial material characterization and analysis. *Interaction with R&D processing, design and testing groups to develop new capabilities and continuously improve existing products. *Propose, lead and complete technical projects within a team-oriented environment. *Support device R&D and production activities.
R E Q U I R E M E N T S
- Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
- OMVPE/MOCVD experience with III-V arsenides/phosphides on GaAs and InP.
- Strong experience with photoluminescence, X-ray diffraction, ECV, Hall measurement, Auger, SIMS, TEM and SEM techniques.
- Previous experience with laser diode epitaxy over gratings and wafer processing beneficial.
- 3 – 5 years of epitaxy experience in industry.
- Knowledge of semiconductor laser design and application.
- Previous team leadership experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and operate in a dynamic work environment.
- Good organizational, prioritization and planning skills.
